============================================================ ARTMAN GARDEN — User Manual & Installation Guide (Artman Vrt) · https://vrt.artman.si · ARTMan ============================================================ A free app for planning and caring for your garden: graphical layout of beds and pots, sowing calendar, watering and fertilizing plans, seed/water quantities, garden journal and tips. Works offline. Available as a web app (PWA) and as a Windows application. ------------------------------------------------------------ 1) TWO WAYS TO USE IT ------------------------------------------------------------ A) WEB APP (recommended, any device) - Open https://vrt.artman.si in a modern browser. - To install it like an app: in Chrome/Edge click the "Install" icon in the address bar; on Android use "Add to Home screen"; on iPhone (Safari) use Share -> "Add to Home Screen". - After the first visit it also works OFFLINE. B) WINDOWS APPLICATION - Setup installer: ArtmanVrt-Setup.msi - Portable version: ArtmanVrt.exe (no installation) See sections 2-3. ------------------------------------------------------------ 2) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS (Windows version) ------------------------------------------------------------ - Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) - Microsoft Edge WebView2: - Already included on Windows 11 (nothing to do). - On older Windows 10 install the free "Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (Evergreen)" from Microsoft's site. - About 30 MB of disk space. ------------------------------------------------------------ 3) INSTALLING THE WINDOWS VERSION ------------------------------------------------------------ A) PORTABLE (simplest) - File: ArtmanVrt.exe - Copy it anywhere (folder, desktop, USB) and double-click. No installation required. - Shortcut: right-click the .exe -> Send to -> Desktop. B) INSTALLER - File: ArtmanVrt-Setup.msi - Double-click -> follow the wizard. The app is installed and a Start-menu shortcut is added. - Uninstall: Settings -> Apps -> Artman Vrt -> Uninstall. FIRST RUN — "WINDOWS SMARTSCREEN" NOTICE Because the app is not (yet) paid-code-signed, Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" window on first run. This is normal for new, unsigned programs and does NOT mean a virus. Click "More info" -> "Run anyway". You can verify authenticity with the SHA-256 checksums (see SHA256-checksums.txt). ------------------------------------------------------------ 4) QUICK START ------------------------------------------------------------ The screen has two columns: LEFT = your inputs, RIGHT = the generated plan. Pick your language with the Si / En / Materni / Sq switch at the top. 1. LOCATION — enter your postal code (Slovenia) or pick a climate zone (continental / coastal / mountain) for other languages. The app adjusts frost dates and the sowing calendar. Coastal areas usually sow 2-4 weeks earlier — always check your local sowing calendar. 2. GARDEN AREAS - In-ground garden: enter the dimensions (m) and choose a mode: "single area", "even grid", or "auto-pack beds by size" (you enter bed types and counts; the app arranges them optimally with paths). - Raised beds: add as many as you like (width/length/depth). - Pots/planters: add them by SHAPE (round, square, rectangular/trough, hexagonal, hanging basket, spiral bed, pyramid) and MATERIAL (terracotta, plastic, wood, metal, concrete). 3. CHOOSE PLANTS — tick the plants and enter the desired count (0 = auto-fill the space). You can also add your own plant ("Add your plant"). 4. Click "Create garden plan" (the preview also refreshes automatically as you change inputs). 5. RESULT TABS - Layout — graphical plan; drag plants with mouse/finger. - Calendar — months for sowing, planting, harvesting. - Watering — need and frequency. - Fertilizing — type and method. - Quantities — seeds/seedlings needed and litres of water. - Care — tasks, good/bad companion plants. - Journal — dated entries (type/text), weather + temp., photos (auto-shrunk, with lightbox), harvest by crop (kg/pcs), reminders (today/overdue), yearly harvest bar chart, monthly tip from the calendar. - Tips — built-in 8-topic guide plus your own tips/links. 6. MANUAL CONTENTS + OPTIMIZE — for each bed/pot click "Set contents", enter the plants you want, then "Check / optimize" — the app checks whether everything fits at standard spacing and suggests a fix. 7. SAVE / EXPORT - Your plan is saved AUTOMATICALLY in the app on this device. - "Print / PDF" — print or save as PDF. - "Export (JSON)" — save a copy of the plan (backup). ------------------------------------------------------------ 5) WHERE YOUR DATA IS STORED ------------------------------------------------------------ Plans, journal, reminders and tips are stored locally on THIS device (browser/app storage). Nothing is sent to a server. For a backup/archive use "Export (JSON)". Clearing browser data or uninstalling the app may delete saved plans, so export first if needed. ------------------------------------------------------------ 6) TROUBLESHOOTING ------------------------------------------------------------ - App won't open / WebView2 error: install the free "Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime" (sec. 2). - SmartScreen blue window: "More info" -> "Run anyway" (section 3). - Blank window: close and reopen the app. - Web app shows an old version after an update: refresh the page (Ctrl+F5) once. - Protect your data: use "Export (JSON)" regularly for a backup. ------------------------------------------------------------ 7) LICENSE ------------------------------------------------------------ Free to use and to share unmodified, with this manual and the license file included.
